the persistence of memory by salvadordali

Hello Everyone! This is my very first post! I am very excited about sharing my thoughts on here! I woke up at 4am this morning super excited and I still haven’t been able to calm myself down just yet, despite it being nearly 8pm! There are so many things I want to do and time is ever so precious! Time is money as they say… On the subject of time, how do you spend your time? Do have a daily schedule? a to-do list? or do you just float by and let life happen to you? Having a very experimental nature, I have experienced all three, and I have to say the one that works most effectively for me is when I grab the bull by the horns and draw up a schedule/plan for the day. Every minute and hour is accounted for, even though it may sound strict to some… I have found my day to be super-productive this way. We tend to be very lazy with ourselves and drift off into things that aren’t really that important when you look at them in hind-sight. Every day is precious, every minute is precious, why not spend that time achieving your goals and dreams?

I know I am!

It is important to be happy! We all need it and crave it but how do we achieve and remain in this state when everything around us is screaming the opposite?

Almost everyone has heard the hit single ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’ by Bobby McFerrin. The song has a very catchy way of conveying its message of being happy to everyone. Bobby Mcferiin’s simple message surely made a lot of people happy by telling them not to worry, but then again that is easier said than done as majority of us seem to have perfected our skills at worrying, that we do it on a daily basis without even realizing it.

Living a happy, resilient and optimistic life is wonderful, and is also good for your health. Being happy actually protects you from the stresses of life. Stress is linked to top causes of death such as heart disease, cancer and stroke. We all need to find a way to remain in this state. Nothing really matters than how we feel, and if we are feeling like “crap” we need to change it because that is a sure sign we are not in tune with who we really are. The times we find ourselves happy and catch ourselves smiling without a real reason, is because we are doing the things that we really want to do and we feel in tune with the universe. It is a magical moment that lasts as long as we allow it.

“Nothing lasts forever” were the words spoken to me by my older sister whenever she found me worrying and sinking into a dark hole growing up as a child. And I held on to those words dearly as my life depended on it. In those words I found truth over time. Things come and go. Memories fade and pass away to give space to new ones. Life is constantly changing and it waits for no one. I learned this by just staring out into the sky and watching the clouds. “Even the clouds don’t wait for anyone” I would say to myself. Everything is constantly moving and I must be prepared to change along with it.

Being happy is very simple and easy, we just need to make up our minds that this is how we want to feel. To speed this process up we need to take the actions necessary to help us achieve this state called “happiness”. There are several actions people find work for them but here are some of my favourite:

Talk to a friend or loved one, one you know makes you smile and laugh.

Go for a walk, run/jog, rollerblade in the park.

Always say thank you to people. A state of gratitude will keep you happy always.

Don’t listen to depressing News, switch off the telly! Find something else to do with your time and start your day with, such as a good book that will feed you with knowledge!

Water your spiritual garden, it is so uplifting and essential for the soul.

Master your time management. Time is precious. Time is money.

When was the last time you laughed? watch that comedy or speak to that “Funny” person you know . You need to laugh sincerely from the heart everyday!

Express yourself! People don’t know what’s going on with you or how you’re feeling until you voice it out! The relief you get!!! whew!

Work hard on those things that you feel are worthy of your time! Keep working at it and it will bring you so much satisfaction!

Learn and do something “new” everyday!

Watch this Movie I have attached in my blog called “The Secret” and see if it doesn’t transform you, if all of the above fails!
